Must read books:
Anything by Ross Bentley. His Speed
Secrets series is simply the best information
out there, containing valuable information and insights
for the Novice and the experienced Pro alike.
Inside Racing Technology
by Paul Haney and Jeff Braun. Out of print but worth
the search.
Anything by Carroll Smith. I especially
like his Engineer in Your Pocket
pocket reference guide.
The Technique of
Motor Racing by Piero Taruffi. Originally published
in 1959, this is a great look at the era, its technology
and the related techniques for getting the most out
of it from inside the cockpit of one of the periods
lesser known but none the less notable drivers. This
was reprinted in 2000 and may still be available from
Bentley Publishers. bentleypublishers.com
The Art of Racing
in the Rain by Garth Stein. OK so this is not
about racing per se. It’s about life. Peter Egan
of Road & Track says this is a must read book (“Just
read it”). He is correct. www.harpercollins.com/book/index.aspx?isbn=9780061537936
